Your Club...

Founded in 1861 Little Lever Cricket Club has seen many household names wear the Club colours.
Notable alumni include:
  • Sir Garfield Sobers who holds the Clubs batting record in Cup matches.
  • Sonny Ramadhin who spent five years entertaining us with his guile
  • Former Australian batsman and coach Geoff Marsh who visits whenever he is in the Country.

Others include Chris Matthews, Henderson Bryon, Franklin Rose, and Venkat Raman. All of whom played cricket at this Club before representing their Country. Ex County player Steven O'Shaughnessy learned his cricket at Little Lever before moving to Old Trafford.

The Club enjoys freehold ownership of the ground. The club itself has been built up around the skill, endeavour and dedication of local volunteers and the membership. But in common with most clubs like ours, we depend very much on bar takings and the support of local businesses.

The Club fields two adult and four junior cricket teams aged from eleven to eighteen in the Bolton Cricket League. We also have Four Rounders teams, six Table Tennis teams (in the Bolton and Bury Leagues) and 2 Football teams, 1 adult and 1 junior.

We have an active committee that consists of 8 members which is responsible for day to day decision making on behalf of the Members.

Our ground is made available to both the junior and senior schools in the village for their use when required.  The high school use the pitch to play some of their home games on. Our function room is also made available for their P.T.A fundraising.

The Lancashire Cricket Board makes use of our ground for both County trials and games.

We employ a Club Steward, a Professional Cricketer, a Groundsman, and seven part time people to run the Bars.

Our social facilities include a lounge Bar at first floor level where we have installed a number of TV screens for all live broadcast sport.

On the ground floor we have a function room that is available free of charge for Members functions such as Weddings, Birthdays etc.

At present we have three sides of the pitch that have benches provided for spectators. In total there are 47 benches seating 4 people, with a further 50 seats located along the front of the pavilion. There is a balcony that accomodates approximately 20 people, with additional space around the ground for people to bring there own chairs. In total we can accommodate about 400 - 500 spectators on the premises.
